Refugees’ health: The ‘public health crisis of this century’

Restrictive entry policies have not stopped asylum seekers, refugees, and other migrants from traveling to Europe in search of refuge, protection and a brighter future. However, these policies often force people to take more risks to reach Europe with negative consequences for their physical and mental health. The complex health needs of the world’s growing refugee population - especially that of young people - pose major challenges for displaced communities, volunteers and national health systems.
